As the winter season arrives so does the beginning of the swine showing season. With jackpots all across the state and beyond many Laverne FFA members have been keeping the roads hot. Many of these students have had their pigs and put many hours into the preparation for these shows. It is an exciting time for these showmen to finally get to get into the ring and showcase their hard work. Starting on December 14th, Laverne swine exhibitors headed far and wide with students exhibiting in three shows. These shows included the Boomtown Throwdown Jackpot in Elk City, OK, NWOSPC Show in Woodward, OK, as well as the OPSU Swine Jackpot in Goodwell, OK. The following weekend of December 21st, the showmen headed to Woodward, OK for the annual Youth Led Swine Jackpot. This jackpot is a very exciting experience as it is run completely by the youth. Kylen Kamp, one of Laverne's Swine Showmen even won grand champion at this show! This past Saturday, December 28th Laverne hosted its very own swine jackpot. This jackpot was a very fun day and was enjoyed by all. Laverne FFA would like to extend a big thank you to all who made this show possible. The Laverne swine exhibitors aren’t done yet. Make sure to come out and catch them at one of their many jackpots coming up in the next few weeks. In Woodward, OK on January 3rd-4th the Laverne Showmen will be attending the Seth Ruteledge and Winter Classic Swine Jackpots. Then on January 10th and 11th in Woodward, OK, the Arnett Masonic Lodge Jackpot will be held. If you can't make it to one of these not only will the Laverne Swine Team be back in Laverne but also all of the Harper County Livestock Showing students. On February 3rd, 2025 the Harper County Livestock Show will be held followed by the premium auction that evening. Overall, the Laverne Swine Exhibitors have had a great start to this season!
