Get To Know Your Officers: Reporter Kensli Shaffer

Posted Date: 02/07/2025

In the FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies the reporter states “As the flag covers the United States of America, so I strive to inform the people in order that every man, woman, and child may know that the FFA is a national organization that reaches from the state of Alaska to the Virgin Islands and from the state of Maine to Hawaii.” These words are just a short summary of the duties held by a chapter reporter. Read along and learn all about your 2024-2025 Laverne FFA Chapter Reporter, Kensli Shaffer.

Kensli will be a junior this upcoming year at Laverne High School. Kensli is involved in Laverne High School Cheer, Shattuck All Stars Competition Cheer Team, Yearbook, Student Council, National Honor Society, FCCLA, and the Laverne First Baptist Church Youth Group.

When asked why she wanted to join FFA Kensli said her family has a history in FFA and the agriculture industry. Therefore when it was time to select her 8th grade classes she enrolled in an agriculture education class without hesitation. Since then she has participated in many things inside of FFA such as prepared public speaking, the state reporter contest, FFA Creed speaking, livestock judging, showing pigs, vet science, ag communications, and job interview. Kensli’s favorite FFA memories include placing third in the Pork Partners Derby at her first OYE, winning regional speech contest in the agriscience division, and having her articles published in The Tulsa World, The Daily Oklahoman, and The High Plains Journal.

Kensli says that FFA has taught her many life skills necessary for success in today's world. FFA has also taught Kensli determination, leadership, and the importance of getting out of your comfort zone. Kensli ran for a chapter office because she wants to use this leadership position to improve and grow her chapter. Some of Kensli’s goals in FFA and as an officer are to give a speech at the state level, place in the top 5 in the state reporter contest, run for a state office, and leave a lasting impact on her chapter and those involved.

Kensli’s' favorite quote is “Let it be, then let it go.'' This is a song lyric by Zach Bryan that Kensli finds to be a motivation in her life. She says that she likes it because in life you can't control everything and sometimes you have to let stuff be let it go and keep moving forward. Some more of Kensli’s favorites include the color orange, crab, cheerleading, hanging out with

Tinsley, any song by Noah Kahan or Zach Bryan, Oklahoma State Cowboy Football, and the movies The Notebook, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Sweet Home Alabama. Kensli’s biggest hero in life is her grandpa, Rod Shaffer, because he is the most hard working man and even through life's ups and downs he remains one of the kindest people on Earth.

Her friends describe her as energetic, determined, and funny. Your 2024-2025 Laverne FFA Chapter Reporter, Kensli Shaffer.
