In the FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies the historian states "The symbol of my station is the scrapbook. Tradition and history are a source of pride for our organization. It is my duty to maintain a record of chapter achievements and promote excellence by highlighting activities, events, and accomplishments. This way, our chapter membership is motivated by our past successes and looks forward to future achievements.” This gives a brief description of the responsibilities held by a chapter historian. Read along and get to know your 2024-2025 Laverne FFA Chapter Historian, Dallie McAtee.
Dallie will be a sophomore this upcoming year at Laverne High School. She is involved in many things in her community including the Laverne United Methodist Youth Group, Laverne Student Council, and Laverne High School Girls Golf.
When asked why she wanted to join FFA Dallie said that she's always had an interest in agriculture and a love for animals. She saw FFA as a way to get more involved and gain more knowledge in those areas. Dallie believes that FFA provides many opportunities to develop leadership skills and connect with other members from her chapter as well as other chapters. Inside of FFA she participates in shooting sports, livestock showing, livestock judging, opening and closing ceremonies team, freshman quiz bowl team, and FFA Creed. One of Dallie’s favorite FFA memories was playing hide and seek with another chapter in the Academy at Big 3.
Dallie stated that FFA has taught her many things such as the importance of leadership skills and helped her to find her passion for agriculture. Through FFA Dallie says her confidence in herself has grown tremendously and she has met some of her best friends and greatest mentors. Dallie has always wanted to serve as an officer for her chapter. Some of her goals for her time in office are to help influence younger members and encourage people to join FFA.
Dallie says that her favorite quote is, “If it was easy everyone would do it.” Some other favorites of Dallie are her grandma's chicken and noodles, going to the lake, and any song by Chris Stapleton. Dallie’s biggest inspirations are her parents. She said that they have pushed her to step outside of her comfort zone and always support her in her activities.
