As the 2023-2024 school year has come to an end a new Officer Team has been elected. The Officer Team is responsible for many things throughout the year including being the leaders of the Laverne FFA Chapter. It is important that the community is familiar with those in these leadership positions. This year the Laverne FFA has decided to do something new and exciting. Due to a growth in membership and a need for more representation the chapter has added three new offices. Read along and get to know your 2024-2025 Laverne FFA Chapter Committee Chair, Shane Goodwin.
Shane will be a junior this upcoming year at Laverne High School. He is involved in many activities such as Laverne Tiger Marching Band, academic team, student council, national honor society, FCCLA, and is the current high school mascot.
When asked why he wanted to join FFA Shane said he found himself in an agriculture education class and never looked back. Inside of his corduroy jacket Shane participates in Extemporaneous Public Speaking and Agriscience. Through FFA Shane has learned many things but he stated that FFA has taught him the importance of the agriculture industry and has helped him to gain a respect for those that work in it.
Shane said he wanted to run for a chapter office because he wants to become more active and to give back to his chapter by helping the younger members find their way in this great organization. His goals in FFA include earning his State and American FFA Degrees someday. He also would like to potentially run for a state office.
Some of Shanes favorites include frito chili pie, Mountain Dew, cooking, hanging out with friends, the movie “Holes” and just about anything by Chris Stapleton. He says his heroes are his grandparents. They have taught him selflessness and the importance of not judging a book by its cover as well as many other life lessons. He is excited to be an officer and lead his chapter this year. Your 2024-2025 Laverne FFA Chapter Committee Chair, Shane Goodwin.
