LAVERNE FFA HOSTS ANNUAL BANQUET

On  May 13th, 2024 the Laverne FFA hosted their annual awards banquet. The annual awards banquet was a way for the chapter to recognize the accomplishments of its members and the students enrolled in agricultural education. FFA Chapter President, Kresta Badley welcomed the guests and the FFA chapter Chaplain, Cy Bentley, gave the invocation. The banquet was kicked off by the 2023-2024 FFA Officer Team presenting the opening ceremonies followed by Mary Kathernine Teal singing The Star Spangled Banner. The chapter’s creed contestants, Reagan Stewart, Dallie McAtee, Mary Katherine Teal, and Jordan Dominguez presented the FFA Creed. 

            FFA Booster Club President, Mrs. Ann Marie Bradt spoke and presented the State FFA Degree recipients a $50 dollar check in congratulations. The next order of business was to present proficiency award recipients. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel in their SAE or project area. This years recipients were, Dal Bentley for Poultry Production, Heidi Manning for Goat Production, Kensli Shaffer for Agriculture Communications, Gracin Drake for Equine Entrepreneurship, Laura Bradt for Swine Production and Service Learning Proficiency, and last Camdyn Kolbe for Beef Production. 

During the banquet the chapter initiated 22 Discovery FFA members. Those that received the Discovery Degree were, Jose Arana, Raiden Barton, Dal Bentley, Laura Bradt, Ann Bryer, Esau Cac, Steven Calderon, Dalon Clark, Abimael Coj, Keaton Cox, Codie Dixon, Rowdy Evans, Kevin Gamez, Johao Garcia, Bryant Gonzales, Heidi Manning, Arlie McAtee, Bristol Newby, Kade Nichols, Andy Olivera, Fernanda Ortega, Fernando Sanchez, Nate Scott, Cade Snider, Ayden Stevens, Brecklin Weiszoro, and Rustin Welty. The Chapters most active eighth grade member who has exhibited outstanding leadership, a strong supervised agricultural experience program, and shown outstanding participation in FFA activities is presented with the Chapter Star Discovery Award. This years winners are Laura Bradt and Dal Bentley. 

The next award presented was the Greenhand Degree.Those that received the Greenhand Degree were Raylie Adkins, Gabe Batman, Jordan Dominguez, Azenet Garcia, Jafet Garcia, Tinsley Green, Jillian Inderlied, Mark Inderlied, Luke King, Gentry Long, Zakry Masters, Dallie

McAtee, Lakin McAtee, Donnie Meyer, Rhylie O’Hair, Martin Orozco, Alex Perez, Edgar Perez, Julian Salgado, Reagan Stewart, Mary Katherine Teal, and Corrin Tillery. The Chapter Star Greenhand award is presented to the chapter member who has met all of the degree requirements for the Greenhand degree and shown outstanding accomplishments in their SAE and FFA activities. This years Star Greenhand winner was Dallie McAtee. 

The last chapter level degree presented was the Chapter Degree. Those that received the Chapter Degree were Cy Bentley, Jaxon Davis, Gracin Drake, Shane Goodwin, Camdyn Kolbe, Bronc Maynes, Kensli Shaffer, and Kaitlyn Thex. The Star Chapter Farmer Award is presented to the chapter member who has met all of the degree requirements for the chapter degree and shown outstanding accomplishments in their SAE and FFA activities. This years Star Chapter Farmer award winner was Camdyn Kolbe. The Star Chapter Placement Award is presented to the chapter member who has a project based off of a paid work experience in the agriculture industry this year star chapter placement award winner was Kensli Shaffer. 

              The State FFA degree is the highest awarded on the state level. This year, the Laverne FFA had two members who met the criteria set by the National FFA organization and received their State Degree last week in Tulsa at the Oklahoma State FFA Convention.Those that received the State Degree were Riley Mack and Kresta Badley. These two also wore blue and gold cords at graduation as recognition for the great accomplishment of receiving a State FFA Degree. 

In the fall, three of our past Laverne FFA members, were recognized at National FFA Convention for receiving their American FFA Degree. This is the highest degree won in the FFA. These three recipients were Kolby Kamp, Jade Bentley-Morrison, and Madeline Long.

Honorary membership is presented to those who are helping to advance agriculture, education, and the FFA and who have rendered outstanding service. This award is an elected award and is accepted by a majority vote of the members at a regular monthly meeting. This year‘s award is presented to individuals who have donated generously to all FFA members and serving many hours working on booster club activities, stock shows, coordinating fundraising for premiums, and donating generously to the Laverne FFA. The Honorary Chapter FFA Degree was presented to Micheal and Misty Mack  as well as Jason and Kelly Badley.

We concluded our Laverne FFA Banquet by electing the new 2024-2025 FFA Officer Team. President, Kylen Kamp, Vice President, Timber Baker, Secretary, Camdyn Kolbe, Treasurer, Selah Bentley, Reporter, Kensli Shaffer, Sentinel, Cy Bentley, Chaplin, Ben Scott, Historian, Dallie McAtee, Parliamentarian, Mary Katherine Teal, and Committee Chair, Shane Goodwin. 

We would like to thank parents, school staff, alumni members, and others for making the 2023-2024 year successful and we look forward to the upcoming year and the achievements it holds!
