December, the month of everything merry, bright, and blue and gold! As the semester comes to a close the Laverne FFA has gone out with a bang. From livestock jackpots to attending the first ever Lead360 these students have taken the last month by storm.
The first event of this month was the EPOS Cattle Clinic which was held in Stillwater. The Laverne FFA members in attendance included Kaitlyn Thex, Raylie Adkins, Camdyn Kolbe, and Dallie McAtee. At this clinic they learned many things and came home feeling as if they are now better prepared to take care of and show their animals.
On December 9th, thirteen Laverne Chapter members headed to Sparks, Oklahoma to attend the second session of the first annual Lead360 Leadership Camp. At this camp Oklahoma FFA members got to participate in many activities, meet new people, and hear from many great speakers. This camp is sure to have a bright future in developing the leadership skills of FFA members from across the state. Laverne FFA is honored to have been a part of the first ever Lead360 camp.
This months chapter meeting was held on December 13th, during this meeting the members enjoyed a good breakfast provided by Jim Shaffer. Some topics of discussion included having a Christmas party, the accomplishments of the first semester, and reminders for upcoming events. The meeting was closed with a fun game that officer Kensli Shaffer provided.
On Friday December 15th, many students loaded up and went to Chickasha, Oklahoma for the All Species Livestock Clinic. This clinic lasted all weekend. The students had fun learning new things and getting better at showing and caring for their livestock. While they were there they enjoyed many fun activities. Overall, the weekend was a great success. A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Kolbe for transporting all the members to these clinics and activities
Some students will be able to showcase these new skills at the last event of the year. On December 30th the Laverne FFA Swine Crew will take on Woodward for the annual Arnett Masonic Lodge Hog Jackpot. Good luck to these students we wish you the best of luck!
With Christmas ahead and school dismissing for the semester the Laverne FFA is very proud of the accomplishments this semester. Stay on the lookout for all the amazing things this chapter will do in the next half of this year. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
