Last week the Laverne FFA Chapter was notified that they are the recipients of one of this years National Two-Star Chapter awards. This award is very important and reflects a lot on the history and impact of our chapter.
The National FFA Star Chapter Awards require a lot of effort and an extensive process to apply. These awards are designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. In order to qualify for a national award a chapter must complete at least 15 activities: one for each of the five quality standards in each of the three divisions. Additionally, the chapter must meet the standards as outlined by the National Quality Chapter Standards. An example of one of these standards is the chapter must receive a gold rating by their state before applying. Lastly, the chapters advisors must fill out a 35-40 page application.
There are three levels to the National FFA Star Chapter Awards, 3- Star, 2-Star, and 1-Star ratings. Laverne FFA was given the 2-Star rating which puts our chapter in the top 20% in the nation. As a 2- Star chapter the next step is to keep improving and work towards earning the 3-Star Rating. Once a chapter has received a 3- Star rating it opens the door for many more very impressive awards. These awards would include the National Premier Chapter Awards and Models of Excellence Awards.
Any awards at the national level are very impressive to receive. Laverne FFA is a truly great chapter with amazing things on the horizon. As a 2-Star Chapter, Laverne FFA will be recognized at National Convention that takes place in Indianapolis, Indiana in November as well as Oklahoma State Convention in May. This award is very prestigious and an accomplishment every member can be proud of. Thank you to our ag teachers for their hard work to get our chapter where it is. Thank you to the community for your support and to the members for their continued participation and dedication that makes our chapter what it is today.
