The 4th of July in Laverne is a widely known and loved tradition. People come from all walks of life just to experience this great small town Independence Day celebration.
The Laverne FFA participated as one of the many floats in this years 4th of July parade. The chapter had the great honor of carrying the large American flag in the parade. It takes many members to help with this every year. When asked why he looks forward to carrying the flag in the parade every year, FFA member Kylen Kamp said, “ I know that many people look forward to seeing the large flag paraded down the street. It also is a reminder of what the 4th of July is truly about.”
Later that evening the chapter continued their participation in the festivities by holding their annual 4th of July Meals on Wheels. The large sum of FFA members who help with this event, package, deliver, and serve meals to many who are not able to attend the dinner at the park. This year the Laverne FFA Chapter delivered 111 meals to community members. Meals on Wheels is just one of many community service projects the Laverne FFA participates in yearly.
