In the FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies the chaplain states “The symbol of my office is the Keystone. The keystone is crucial to holding everything together, just as the Chaplain is essential to influencing the lives of members by providing spiritual guidance to those who seek direction.” This gives a brief description of the responsibilities held by a chapter chaplain. Cy will be a sophomore this upcoming year at Laverne High School. When not participating in FFA activities Cy is involved in many other things. Some of these activities include playing basketball, running track, working for his dad, and being an involved member of the Laverne First Baptist Youth Group. Cy originally decided to enroll in an ag class because all of his friends decided to as well. From the moment Cy got his blue FFA jacket he knew it was a lot more than just a class. Since becoming involved in FFA Cy has participated in shooting sports, giving speeches and the FFA Creed, livestocks judging, and showing.
A favorite memory of Cy’s was going on shooting sports trips and listening to Taylor Swift. “Everyone was always singing at the top of their lungs, even Mr. Wetherell.” Cy said. The funniest moment of Cy’s while on an FFA trip was at state convention when they ran out of gas on the way home and had to wait on the side of the road for what seemed like forever.
Cy has been super involved in his chapter and when the time came to fill out officer applications Cy was eager at the opportunity in front of him. Cy was strongly encouraged by his ag teachers. Another reason Cy decided to run for an office was because of the many things hes learned through FFA. “I can’t wait to show others just how much FFA can teach everyone.” Cy stated. Some of Cy’s goals this upcoming year are to grow as a leader and show members that FFA is for everyone.
Cy has many hobbies he loves to spend time doing. These hobbies include hunting, fishing, sports, reading his Bible, and hanging out with his best friend, Ben. His favorite inspirational verse comes from Philippians 4:13 and says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Some of Cy”s favorite things are the movie Cars, the color light blue, the song Love Story by Taylor Swift, and basketball.
