As stated by the vice president in the FFA Opening and Closing Ceremonies, “The plow is the symbol of labor and tillage of the soil. Without labor, neither knowledge nor wisdom can accomplish much. My duties require me to assist at all times indirecting the work of our organization. I preside over meetings in the absence of our president, whose place is beneath the rising sun.” This is just a brief description of the responsibilities that a chapter vice president holds. Ben will be a junior this upcoming year at Laverne High School. Outside of FFA Ben participates in the Laverne High School Band and the First Baptist Church Youth Group. Ben decided to join FFA because of his older brother. Ben stated that he remembered seeing his brother grow and thrive in FFA. Seeing this made him want to gain those same experiences and that was when Ben decided to give FFA a try. Inside of FFA Ben is a very involved member who participates in ag mechanics, public speaking, and showing hogs.
Ben’s favorite memory from FFA was when they were on their way to convention and decorated the bus with lights, blankets, and music that was way too loud. The funniest stories Ben has had during his time in FFA mainly involve wasting time in Walmart.
When asked why Ben decided to run for an office he said that he was pushed everyday by Mr, and Mrs. Wetherell. “They pushed me constantly to work hard and be the very best I could be.” Ben said when talking about the Wetherell’s. Ben has many goals for his future in FFA but as an officer he would really like to build relationships with members of the Laverne chapter and help them excel in any and all areas of FFA.
Some hobbies of Bens are breed showing and butchering pigs. Bens favorite motivational verse is “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33” Some of Bens favorite things are the movie Top Gun, the color blue, baseball, and Zach Bryan. He is described by his friends as funny, caring, and energetic, Your 2023-2024 Laverne FFA Chapter Vice President, Ben Scott.
