On May 9th, 2023 the Laverne FFA hosted their annual awards banquet. The annual awards banquet was a way for the chapter to recognize the accomplishments of its members and the students enrolled in agricultural education. FFA Chapter President, Sam Scott welcomed the guests and the FFA chapter Chaplain, Kaitlin Vaughan, gave the invocation. The banquet was kicked off by the 2022-2023 FFA Officer Team presenting the opening ceremonies followed by Mary Kathernine Teal singing The Star Spangled Banner. The chapter’s creed contestants, Kensli Shaffer, Shane Goodwin, Camdyn Kolbe, Janssen Garcia, and Cy Bentley, presented the FFA Creed.
During the banquet the chapter initiated 22 Discovery FFA members. Those that received the Discovery Degree were Raylie Adkins, Gabe Batman, Haddie Cook, Kinsley Crooks, Jordan Dominguez, Jafet Garcia, Tinsley Green, Jillian Inderlied, Mark Inderlied, Luke King, Gentry Long, Zackey Masters, Dallie McAtee, Lakin McAtee, Rhylie O’Hair, Martin Orozco, Alex Perez, Francisco Salgado, Julian Salgado, Kaitlyn Sams, Reagan Stewart, and Mary Katherine Teal
Those that received the Greenhand Degree were Noel Almanderez, Cy Bentley, Charles Bond, Trex Carnagey, Cooper Crissup, Jaxon Davis, Gracin Drake, Jaycee Estep, Janssen Garcia, Jovani Gonzalez, Shane Goodwin, Xander Graves, Camdyn Kolbe, Chandler Lenngington, Taylor Lewis, Bronc Maynes, Jocelyn Nunez, Edgar Perez, Yadhira Quintero, Luis Rodriguez, Kensli Shaffer, Sabrina Smith, Talan Sutton, Kaitlyn Thex, and Wyatt Tillery.
Those that received the Chapter Degree were Timber Baker, Selah Bentley, Victor Enriquez, Korbin Evans, Krislyn Flynn, Tripp Green, Royce Henricks, Kylen Kamp, Tatum Neilson, Paola Ortega, and Ben Scott.
Those that received the State Degree were Macy Bentley, Katelin Long, Samuel Scott, Kaitlin Vaughan, and Kenna Vaughan. These five were recognized on stage at the 97th Oklahoma State FFA Convention.
Winning Star awards for the night were Dallie McAtee for the Star FFA Discovery Award,and Cy Bentley for the Star FFA Greenhand Award.
In the fall, Austin Bradt, one of our past Laverne FFA members, was recognized at National FFA Convention for receiving his American FFA Degree. This is the highest achievement won in the FFA.
As well as in the fall, we had 25 FFA students receive the Blue Jacket Scholarship. The Blue Jacket Scholarship is designed to provide 8th, 9th, and 10th grade FFA members the opportunity to earn their first FFA jacket. This year Laverne FFA received the most scholarships given to one chapter in the state of Oklahoma.
The Honorary Chapter FFA Degree was presented to Donnie and Mandy Scott as well as Araine Cash.
We concluded our Laverne FFA Banquet by electing the new 2023-2024 FFA Officer Team. President, Kresta Badley, Vice President, Ben Scott, Secretary, Selah Bentley, Treasurer, Timber Baker, Reporter, Kensli Shaffer, Sentinel, Kylen Kamp, Chaplin, Cy Bentley.
